Amy Lou Adams, full name Amy Lou Adams (born 20 August 1974 in Aviano Italy), American actress. She is known for portraying naive characters that are charming and likable. Adams was raised in Italy as her father worked in the U.S. military and she grew up living in Castle Rock Colorado as one of seven kids. In the late 1990s, she began performing professionally and dancing with Boulder's Dinner Theatre and Country Dinner Playhouse. When she moved to Minnesota, she starred in an undocumentary-style film called Drop Dead Gorgeous (1998) about beauty pageants. Following her debut on screen as a cute but serious contestant, she relocated towards Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. She was the wife of the actor Tony Curtis from June 1951 to September 1962 and the mother of Kelly Curtis and Jamie Lee Curtis. Leigh, who was introduced to her by actress Norma Shearer Leigh signed a contract with MGM to begin her career as a film star in the late 1940s. She appeared in several popular films in the next decade, such as Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960) and Living It Up (a Martin and Lewis-film from 1954).
